IMPORTANT UPDATE: Stockfresh closed on October 17, 2020. Read our announcement.
Stockfresh is a microstock agency based in Budapest, Hungary. It was started in June 2010 by Peter Hamza and Andras Pfaff, the original founders of stock.xchng, one of the largest and most popular stock photo communities on the web, and its sister site Stockxpert, one of the early popular microstock agencies, after both sites were acquired by Getty Images.
Their goal is to provide high quality stock photos, graphics and vector illustrations at affordable prices through a hassle-free, clean interface, while giving back to the community as much as possible.
Customers can buy images with prepaid credits or via monthly subscriptions. Prepaid prices generally range between $1 – $20 depending on size and subscription prices can go as low as 20 cents per image.
Contribute to Stockfresh
As of November 2014, Stockfresh had nearly 4 million images online by over 3500 contributing artists from all over the world. Stockfresh pays out roughly 50% on each prepaid download and 35 cents on each subscription download, which is well above the industry average. To submit images, apply here. Don’t forget to read their detailed Upload guide first.
Image reviews are done in house, with staff that have been on board for almost a decade. It doesn’t take more than 1-2 days for them to review your uploads.
Due to the high royalty rates Stockfresh does not currently have a contributor referral program, however they do have an affiliate program in place where bloggers and site owners can make 10% of every sale referred.

Stockfresh Review: Our verdict
Their customer base is growing rapidly, customer support is quick and friendly, uploading is easy (fast and reliable FTP). Review times are very short and approval ratio quite good. When we registered with them, sales were not ideal, but we hoped that it would start improving over time. Unfortunately, at the time of updating this Stockfresh review in April 2017 sales were still slow and steady. Maybe it depends on what you shoot. You can always give it a try, register your free account and see if it works for you.
